Helena Arbuckle is a Settler from Tsuu T'ina Nation Treaty 7 lands (Calgary). However, having spent the summer months growing up as a guest on Tseshaht and Hupačasath lands (Sproat Lake), she is no stranger to Vancouver Island. Helena has been a guest on Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ lands (Victoria) for the past 6 years.

Helena graduated from the University of Victoria in the spring of 2018, obtaining a double major in Philosophy and Political Science with a minor in Indigenous Studies. Helena is a singer-songwriter who performs under the alias Aporetic. As her day job, Helena works as a policy analyst. Helena is passionate about native plants and ecosystems, decolonization, and bringing people together through courageous conversations, music, art and dance. Helena enjoys creating safe, inclusive spaces where people from all different walks of life can come together to express themselves freely.

We're blessed to have her cultural sensitivity, creative and community care curating our programming.
