Kata is a quiet founding member that helped envision the studio's potential as a co-working space, recording, workshop and rehearsal venue; a facility that exists as both a grass roots venue, and 24/7 private and co-working studio space. She lead some of the original business planning and program design hopeful that Submersive would become a community focused non-profit and local incubator for BC's entertainment industry sustained through rentals, productions, workshops, memberships, merch revenue and special-project grant funding.
She brings an academic background in communications and urban and land use planning and will soon begin a diploma in cultural resource and project management prior to pursuing a graduate studies in public administration and policy. Her professional background bridges between property management, entrepreneurship, non-profit leadership, and research writing for cultural business and consulting agencies.
Artistically, she identifies as a movement artist, production lead, and photographer, and has trained for 8-years as a multi-prop circus and fire arts. She is currently a leader of the Fernwood Community Fire Community, and has performed locally at Victoria's International Flow Festival and the West Coast Hoop Retreat and at stages throughout Burning Man and at Costa Rica-based music festivals. She has lead decor planning for Reverbia Live Music Project in Nevada, and designed installation art featured at Basscoast's Live Music Project, and Shambhala's Grove Stage.
She sat on the executive board for the 2019 term as the managing director and coach in charge of:

process development, program, and task planning
operations and administration
She works closely with Helena and Phil to further policy, program development, and organizational planning.
